I purchased a converter from usb to Serial at the lowest price point I could find and it was a waste of money. I bought the keyspan converter and it worked perfect the first time with no work on my part at all

5 out of 5 stars It Works   July 4, 2010

What more can I say. It just works as advertised. It works on a Macintosh computer running OS 10.4.6 and on the same computer running Windows XP sp3. It works even on a Windows PC as well. The only time you may run into problems will be using the adaptor and your computer with a device that has ancient hardware/software that will not work with any RS-232 to USB adaptor. In this case you will need to find an old computer with a dedicated RS-232 connector.

5 out of 5 stars Keyspan USB Adapter and Windows 7   July 2, 2010

Apparently the drivers for Windows 7 have not been written for the Keyspan USB Adapter, after searching the web and not being able to find drivers I used the ones provided on the disc from Keyspan for Windows XP instead and they seem to work fine. br / br /I have not had any problems with the Keyspan Adapter which we use for communications to security panels and access control devices. br / br /

5 out of 5 stars OS X (Snow Leopard) Compatible   June 30, 2010
David Ishmael (Purcellville, Virginia United States)
I bought this for a MacBook Pro (no serial port) so I could console into servers and network equipment. I installed the drivers, plugged everything up, and consoled successfully into a SunFire server via the LOM without issue. For the technically inclined: With the driver installed, when you attach the device you'll get a new device (/dev/tty.KeySerial1). To console into a system, simply open a terminal (Terminal.app) and issue the command: br / br /screen /dev/tty.KeySerial1 9600
