| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Inexpensive, easy to install and simple-to-use, the SPA2102 connects a standard telephone or fax machine to IP-based data networks. VoIP service providers can offer residential and business users traditional and enhanced communication services via the customer's broadband connection to the Internet.
The SPA2102 features two POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) ports to connect existing analog phones, fax machines, or to a PBX system. The SPA2102 includes 2 100BaseT RJ45 Ethernet interfaces (LAN-WAN) to connect to a home or office LAN, as well as an Ethernet connection to a broadband modem or router (WAN). Each SPA2102 service line can be independently configured via software controlled by the service provider or the end user.

Unable to reset item September 8, 2010 S. Stewart Purchased this item used, but like new. When I received it, I found that the system was password protected, so I could not use nor configure it. I accessed the manual online and reset the system to factory standards, but still it was protected by a password.
I contacted linksys technical support and they told me that the unit's password had been hardlink set at the factory in specification to the previous owner and that there was absolutely no way to reset nor erase the password.
The inability to reset the password is not a good feature, tech support said that they couldn't even do it at their own factory, and they had no policy to replace my unit with another one. I can't use this item at all.
ATA works as it should September 3, 2010 Stuart C Thompson I purchased two of these units, one for use in the USA and one for Europe. Setting them up was a challenge but I was eventually able to get it done. They work well. Sound quality is good. I used to use vonage a while back. The sound quality of these boxes along with the service provider I'm using is worlds better than the VoIP solutions I used in the past.

Try several time to get my phone to work . No luck and on help from Cisco
great once set up July 30, 2010 plee (atlanta, ga usa) so the product itself works flawlessly. it runs a little bit on the warm side, but overall its great, and it does what it's supposed to. I use it to get free unlimited "landline" calls and its been working out creat so far. i was checking out the ooma or other voip services prices, but i wanted to do something that was absolutely free with no contract or any monthly free what-so-ever and so after doing some research on voip technology, and taking advantage of google voice's free features, i managed to find a way to accomplish this. There are no directions to set up the actual product, because i think they expect someone that buys this caliber of product to know what they're doing. so it was more online reading for me. I hope this helps
Very Fraigle electronic unit July 23, 2010 D. Hamm (Raleigh, NC) I have had about six of these unit's go bad from lightning storms so I would highly recommend getting some type of Ethernet surge protection on these units. I even have mine in a metal box with a grounding rod outside. That seems to have helped protect the ones I have in the box but took out another one I had in another room not protected. The unit when working works fine and I have no other complaints except if you do have to send one of these back be prepared to be on the phone for a while. I was surprised how long it took just to get an RMA number for a DEAD unit. Not much troubleshooting on "DEAD" "NO LIGHTS ON" unit.
