Product Description WIRELESS-N ROUTER
Amazon.com Product Description Amazon.com Product Description The NETGEAR WNR2000 Wireless-N Router, featuring the new 802.11n, or Wireless-N, standard, offers range and performance that is superior to previous generation 802.11g routers. When used with RangeMax Wireless-N adapters and Wireless-N devices, this router will significantly boost the speed and performance of your wireless network. And because it's backwards compatible with Wireless-G standards, you can continue to use your existing Wireless-G devices. p style type="text/css" .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: 20px; } table.callout { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, serif; margin: 10px; width: 250; } td.callout { height: 100 percent; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding: 10px; width: 250px; } ul.callout { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -12px; font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; } h5.callout { text-align: center; } /style table align=right width=200 cellpadding=10 tr td table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 class="callout" width=250 trtdimg src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-top.png"/td/tr tr td class="callout" valign=topfont size="2"bcenterThe NETGEAR WNR2000 Wireless-N Router:/center /b/font ul class="callout" liProvides blazing fast Wireless-N networks. liIs backwards compatible with older Wireless-G networks. liHas push-button connectivity. liAutomatically configures your router for virtually all ISP connections. /ul /td/tr trtdimg src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bottom.png"/td/tr /table /td /tr tr td align="center" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B001AZP8EW-demo.jpg" border=0brbrimg src="http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/buttons/see_it_in_action.gif" border="0" /td /tr /table table align=left width=200 cellpadding=20 tr td img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B001AZP8EW-1-sm.jpg" border=0brbrspan class="caption"Connecting securely to the network is as easy as pushing a button. View larger. /td /tr /table bEasy Set-Up with Push 'N' Connect/bbr Setting up and connecting to the WNR2000 couldn't be easier. The router comes with a Smart Wizard installation CD that vastly simplifies the initial set-up process by automatically detecting and configuring your router for virtually all ISP connections. p Once your network is set up, the router's "Push 'N' Connect" feature takes over. To add a new computer to your network, you simply push a button on the router, and the router connects automatically and securely. This means that the days of having to remember complicated security keys and passwords are over. (This feature requires the use of compatible NETGEAR wireless adapters such as the NETGEAR WN111, WNDA3100, or WG111.)p The router has four Ethernet ports for wired connections. It also automatically checks and upgrades to the latest software, so you'll always be certain it's up-to-date and offering optimal performance.p bSmart and Green Design/bbr The router has an elegant and clean design, relying on internal antennas that offer maximum range without detracting from its streamlined look. An on/off switch lets you turn off the router when it's not in use. Energy Star compliant, the WNR2000 is stingy in its power use, and with packaging that's made of 80-percent recycled materials, it's as green as it gets.p bHigh-Class Security Keeps Your Info Safe/bbr The WNR2000 Wireless-N Router offers strong, double firewall protection that includes network address translation (NAT) to keep you network hidden from outside users, and stateful packet inspection (SPI) firewall to deny outside requests for personal information.p Other security measures include denial-of-service (DoS) attack prevention, intrusion detection and prevention (IDS), and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK). The router offers both 64-bit and 128-bit encryption as well as a wireless access control that identifies authorized wireless network devices connected to your network.p For parental peace of mind, there are several options designed to keep your kids safe, including URL content filtering, time-based usage controls, and "trusted user" controls. The router's remote management controls make it easy to keep your kids online and protected.p NOTE: To achieve maximum speed and performance, NETGEAR recommends the use of the following Wireless-N adapters: RangeMax Wireless-N Laptop Adapter (WN511B), RangeMax Wireless-N PCI Adapter (WN311B), RangeMax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter (WN111).p The NETGEAR WNR2000 Wireless-N Router measures 7 x 5.1 x 1.4 inches (HxWxD) and comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty.p bWhat's in the Box/bbr Wireless-N router, stand, Ethernet cable, setup CD, power adapter, warranty/support information card. br clear="all"

No improvement July 30, 2010 Al (Santa Rosa Beach, FL United States) I've had a couple of G routers and when I had to replace my last one I bought this Netgear. It offers NO improvement over the less expensive G routers. The speed is the same, the inconsistancy is the same and the dropouts are the same. I paid double for this for no added performance. I am very dissapointed!
By By LinkSys hello NetGear July 30, 2010 David Michel Been using LinkSys since they have been around but had problems with the last two and decided it was time for a change. Been using a small NetGear router and was real happy with it so went for this one.
br /
br /Bought it about five months ago and it has worked flawlessly since.
br /
br /Two things that I like, 1) this is a power switch 2) there is a button to turn wireless on and off.
br /
br /Setup and configuration was better than expected. Too busy to get into all the Tech Head stuff that I would look for, but thats the way it goes.
br /
br /Bottom line, I'm happy with it, next time will look for another NetGear, and will not hesitate to recommend it.
Worked flawlessly until it died after 7 weeks. July 26, 2010 D. Wells (Kansas City, Mo.) I was very happy with this router for nearly seven weeks. Had 2 desktops (one Mac and one Dell), plus 2 laptops (one Mac and one Toshiba) and a Canon printer, all connected wirelessly. Easy setup, and worked beautifully. Laptops worked throughout the house, even in the basement. Never dropped a signal. Then, just short of seven weeks, it suddenly died.
br /
br /Took it back to the big-box store and exchanged it for an identical model. We have had the second one for 3 days and it continuously drops the signal, even with the computer sitting right next to it. It's going back tomorrow, and I think I will try a different brand.
Good router, but poor range in challenging environment July 20, 2010 E. Houston (New Jersey, USA) There have been numerous other reviews detailing the technical specification of this router so I won't go into those details. My sole complaint about this router is about its range, and that will only apply to those who are also in a large environment or something constructed from unusual materials.
br /
br /Finding a router with adequate range is challenging for me because our house is old (1880s) and large (3 floors on which wireless will be accessed). We recently had Verizon fios installed, and unfortunately our old netgear router was not compatible with their modem/router, and their router was not strong enough to reach the entire house.
br /
br /With the WNR2000 I got a full signal within a sphere of approximately 10 ft of the router on the same floor and one floor below. Within 20 ft it was down to half strength, and it was non-existent outside of 30. In addition, there was limited to no signal on the entire third floor of the house.
br /
br /I ended up returning this router and getting the model one step up in the same product line. (On the box from Staples it's called the WNDR3400 / n600.) Although more expensive, it was just as easy to set up and it does the trick; we now have excellent service throughout the house.
br /
br /I will note quickly that I found the WNR2000 extremely easy to set up, and within a limited range it worked very well. Also, for those seeking technical support, there are two numbers on the netgear website; one is a premium service that you have to pay for, and the other is free. The workers on the helpline are not located in the US, but I found them to be knowledgeable, helpful, and there was no trouble with accents on either end.
br /
br /Overall, this is an excellent basic router, but if you have a more challenging environment I would look for the 3400.
An OK Wireless Router With Two WLANs and Repeater Function July 18, 2010 uniq (El Dorado Hills, CA United States) I set up this unit for a friend who bought it at Staples for $59.99 (regular price). The box has "Netgear Lifetime Warranty" written on it, which for the friend was a decisive factor.
br /
br /No installation problems to make it work with the Comcast cable modem. User interface seems slapped together from several different Netgear products, but nothing drastically unpleasant. It allows to set up up to two WLANs, one of which is "Guest". It seems strange that SSID can be turned off either for all WLANs or only for the Guest network.
br /
br /The router has a "repeater" function, which, unexpectedly and without any warning anywhere in the product description, allows only WPA encryption, even though the WLANs allow more options with stronger encryption (WPA2-PSK, etc.)
