Great product once you get through the setup August 21, 2010 Gerdylat It was hard for me to setup but I called tech support and they did the whole setup for me remotely! It has worked great! I use it to stream netflix and video on demand from amazon onto my blue ray player wirelessly. Great product!
Works fine (most of the time), but the setup was painful. July 16, 2010 Ty L. Dupler (Long Beach, CA) I received the product very fast. Opened the box and there was no documentation (it is a refurb, but the book should have been there). Followed the "quick startup" chart and the setup on my computer went fast and easy. THEN I hooked it up to my blu-ray player and the fun started. I was attempting to start up Netflix and I kept getting "error 300" over and over. So I called Cisco on their 800 number (thank goodness the call was free) and sat on hold for 45 minutes. Finally a person came on the line, I explained the situation and error code and he promptly informed me that Sony prefers to talk to people who purchased MY particular blu-ray. He then transferred me to Sony and I held on the phone for 30 minutes. When the technical service person finally answered, he told me to do ONE task in the sony menu and the whole situation resolved itself, he also informed me that Cisco could have told me that if I had called them first, LOL. He didn't even know that I was transferred over to them. Anyway, the unit now works very well, minus the occasional network signal loss (LOTS of wireless users in my neighborhood) so I can forgive that.
All in all, happy with the purchase but unhappy with the lack of support from Cisco.
Works great but only for expert non-Windows users July 11, 2010 Karl (Bozeman, MT USA) This refurbished unit comes with no manual. The only printed material in the box is a one page limited warranty.
The disk in the box has no operating system identification on it, but it only runs on Windows systems. (On a Mac OS X system, the disk mounts, but shows as empty.) The disk could at least contain a full PDF product manual with instructions for setting up the unit via direct connection as described by other reviewers here. The instructions are so simple (see other reviews) that a card in the box would have been a minimal customer-centric thing to do as well.
If you're on Windows, none of this will matter - insert the disk and run the setup program. If you're on Mac or Linux, beware.
Excellent Bridge July 9, 2010 C. Cousino (Boston, MA United States) Works as expected, very good connectivity and fast speeds. Not easy to setup for average user. I am expert and it still took time. Also don't use others setup instructions earlier in these reviews. The IP this bridge uses is not what they show. The manual makes it easy to get into. But remember the IP will change once you add it to a router that is using DHCP.
This device is not for novice, as you need to use Security which the CD does not do.
No No NO July 5, 2010 J. Pardo After 2 days I finally reach the goal and I watch some pictures from my computer in my TV using this adapter. However is so slow aand after 5 minutes you only receive 4 or 5 pictures. I have a very powerful wifi system for my Internet conection but this adapter is lazy.
