With DD-WRT firmware, seems just fine! September 7, 2010 James P. Wong (Downey, CA USA) I set this up for a friend and it came with the customized (read: Buffalo logo on the setup page :) DD-WRT firmware already installed in the unit. Installation and setup was a breeze, and it's a small, compact router. For the $50~ price, this seems like a good, no-nonsense Wireless N solution.
I have a Linksys WRT54GL that's also got DD-WRT custom firmware installed, and it really makes a big difference during router / wireless network setup to me.
Gave up on setup and returned for another item September 6, 2010 Jeff 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased as wireless access point on a local network. After 2 hours over two days of trying to configure, I decided that there must be an easier way so returned the product and purchased a Hawking Access Point. It installed immediately out of the box.
After returning the item, I checked on Amazon and noted that the item had been removed because of problems - so I made the right decision to try an alternate solution.
One of the best decisions I've ever made September 5, 2010 T. Taller (Kanata, Ontario, Canada) I needed an access point to add to my wired network to add wireless capability. I knew as much about this "stuff" as I do about rockets. After doing as much reading as I could, I opted for this product. Absolutely no problem setting up the access point.
The one moment when I did get stuck, I had to call tech support. Fabulous 24/7 support from Texas. What I really liked about their tech support person was that he consulted another tech to be sure that he was giving me correct advice.
Too bad that Buffalo isn't as widely distributed here in Canada as it is in the U.S. I had it shipped to the UPS store in Ogdensburg NY. It arrived as scheduled and I was up and running the same day.
Buy it!
Great! September 5, 2010 Stephanie (San Antonio, TX, USA) So far, this is the best router I've owned. It was easy to set up, came with DD-WRT (very impressive), and I've noticed no negative performance issues. It's also very small - it makes my modem look like a giant. The price + free shipping + no tax can't be beat by local stores.
I've been using it for around a month now. Hopefully it doesn't have the same fate as my last three Linksys routers after a couple years.
Decision should be easy. September 2, 2010 S. Bronder (Columbus, OH) I have 2 of these and they are both great. DD-Wrt (and supported form the vendor) for $55 makes this an easy decision. I have them running in WDS 2 stories apart and get fantastic performance from my network. They have been running for about 2 weeks now and I have not had a single issue from either of them. Unlike some Linksys's I upgraded, these seem to stay up w/out unplugging the power to reset them. The price is fantastic and if you are looking at this because you are interested in DD-Wrt it should be an easy decision.
