4 out of 5 stars E3000 does the job   September 3, 2010
the webmaster (Lakeland, FL)
The sign of a good wireless router is how invisible it becomes after setup. It's been about 3 weeks since I setup this router to replace a D-LINK DIR655. Setup was easy and I've had no problems. Range is better than the D-LINK. I now get "HD" NetFlix quality more frequently (using wireless connection on Blu-Ray player). I wish that the LG BD390 operated at 5Ghz range, but that's another story. The only knock I have against the E3000 is that if you use the CD based setup application, the admin password and the access passphrase have to be identical. That's just not good security. Anyway, the browser based setup screens are not that difficult to navigate. I am not unhappy with the purchase.

4 out of 5 stars E3000 solid so far   August 31, 2010
Amazon Buyer (Florida)
I bought an E3000 to replace a WRVS4400n. The older unit was not working that well with multimedia streaming, etc. and I think Cisco/Linksys has stopped updating the firmware. Anyway, the E3000 has been very solid since I installed it. I have not had to touch it really. It just works and is designed to handle today's entertainment streaming needs. I just wish Cisco/Linksys would come out with a SINGLE, consistent menu system for all its routers and disable the items/pages that don't apply to a particular model with a note such as "N/A for this model". I don't know why they have to have a hundred different menu trees for a hundred different models. Crazy. I would have given the E3000 5 stars across the board, but I think some of the web access filter pages and port forwarding pages don't offer enough configuration lines to work with. All in all though, a VERY GOOD purchase thus far...

4 out of 5 stars Have had the E3000 for about a month   August 30, 2010

I've had this router for about a month now, and have used most of it's everyday functions except for the parental controls (can never get them to work as I want with any linksys router) and any functions only available through the Cisco Connect software.
I had to replace my previous WRT54G router since I was having problems with my internet connection when using the router, so going with another Linksys was an obvious choice considering I was still using Version 1 hardware.
The first thing I did was download the new firmware available at the Linksys website, then start setting up all the settings through the web-interface (I much prefer this method over previous Cisco Connect software I've used). My primary PC is a laptop which has wireless N, but it only connects up to 65 Mbps which could be a limitation of my laptop. Eventhough this isn't the fastest speed for wireless N, it does provide enough bandwidth to stream videos from an HDD connected through the USB port on the router. It was easy enough to map the networked drive to my laptop, and I'm now using it for wireless backups as well.
I currently have no complaints about this router, but I'm sure I'll find something I don't like soon enough.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful router   August 30, 2010
Steven Philips (San Jose, CA United States)
Easy install and setup. Works great with other systems and helps setup other computers on your network by creating and using a USB key.

Setting up the internet bridge was a little tricky but that has to do more with the provider than it does with the router. Straight forward controls.

5 out of 5 stars Easy set up   August 30, 2010
Kelly R. Weinhold (Wildwood, MO)
This router was very easy to set up and is easy to manage the settings. There are more advanced settings for those with more experience with wireless technology. I love the dual band on this router as my microwave no longer interferes with one of my laptops!. I did take the advice of another reviewer and bought rubber feet to lift it off the desk just a little more to keep it cooler. It's working quite well so far.
